On-line Bible Study Scripture Peter said, ''Even though all become deserters, I will not.'' Jesus said to him, ''Truly I tell you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.'' -- Mark 14:29-30 Reflection This passage foretells Peter's actions, but it is also a reminder to each of us. We can think that we are close to Jesus and that we would never deny him, but that is exactly what we must pause and reflect upon. Would we? Peter thought he was strong. Peter thought he would be there for his friend. Peter thought he could remain faithful when challenged. Yet, he was unable to do so. Later, we read that God didn't abandon Peter because of this lapse. Rather, God used Peter in a powerful way to start the Church.
Questions How do you deny Jesus? Where do you need to begin to seek repentance? How might God use you to further his kindgom through your faithfulness? How might these areas in your life blossom and yield greater love if love were to guide your actions evenmore? |
